“God Intentions  XXV”

Hebrews 12: 11, 12 “All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet for those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak, and the knees that are feeble.”

We confuse discipline with punishment; rather, discipline has to do with training. In our weakness and addiction to comfort we focus on scriptures that speak of God’s favor and blessing, at the expense of those which emphasize His requirements. Into this picture of indulgence and selfishness steps the forty days of Lent, with the intention that Christ may increase while we decrease (John 3: 30). Let the discipline begin!
