Wednesday, January 31: “God Intentions XI”
Genesis 22: 7b, 8a “[Isaac] said, ‘Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?’ Abraham said, God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’”
These are interesting words: God provided the sacrificial lamb for Himself. Indeed, it was through the Lamb of God that God reconciled the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5: 19). But the lamb (ram) was also of great benefit to Abraham, and obviously to Isaac (a type of all mankind). In the case of Christ the Lamb, His sacrifice was even to His own benefit, for in humbling Himself to the point of death, He was exalted and given the Name above every name. This is why we ever praise and exalt the worthy Lamb!
