Wednesday, March 20: “Trust in the Lord Like a Child”

Mark 10: 14, 15: “Jesus … said to them, ‘Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

As sung by Lt. Joseph Cable in “The Sound of Music”, “You’ve got to be taught how to hate.” It’s the same with trust. Children are born trusting, they learn to mistrust. Toward men, this is a good idea sometimes. Toward God, it’s fatal every time. Receiving the Kingdom of God is a matter of trust, which children possess naturally. To destroy that gift within them is to go to a place you don’t want to go (Mark 9: 42).
