Wednesday, May 15: “Seasons of Suffering IV”

Ephesians 4: 4, 16: “There is one Body and one Spirit; just as you were also called in one hope of your calling.”

The more we deal with people the more they will disappoint us, in one way or another. So often our expectations, personal or otherwise, are not met. However, the worst thing anyone can do is give up on people, especially other believers, and become some kind of spiritual hermit. If we do that, we will lose hope. That’s because the source of our hope is our calling into the very “one Body” of Christ we are tempted to reject. (Colossians 3: 15). God promises that Body is being built and held together, and will grow and be built up in love (v. 16). And in that promise is a hope that does not disappoint (Romans 5: 5).
