Wednesday, May 8: “The Importance of Being Real IV”

Psalm 68: 15, 16: “A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; a mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan. Why do you look with envy, O mountain with many peaks, at the mountain which God has desired for His abode? Surely the Lord will dwell there forever.”

Bashan had quite a reputation as a mountain and as a kingdom, and its king, Og, was the last of the Rephaim, a race of giants. Nevertheless, it could not stand before Israel’s might (Numbers 21: 33; Joshua 13: 11, 12). Like many yet today, Bashan may boat of being a mountain of God, but the true mountain of God, Mount Zion, is to be envied by all others as the real dwelling place of God, and all the pseudo-peaks, the Bashans with their many peaks, along with their Ogs, will just have to deal with it.
