Wednesday, October 11: “Messianic Conviction”
Matthew 9: 9: “As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He said to him, ‘Follow Me!’ And he got up and followed Him.”
Matthew had a good gig going–he was making a lot of money in the tax office. So what made him rise and follow? Could it have been the fact that Jesus and His movement was ‘trending now,’ or that he saw a chance to make even more money? Or did the love of Jesus convict him of his deceitful life, and call him to something higher? The rest of Matthew’s life would indicate the latter.
